LittleLearn for parents — the calm control room
LittleLearn gives parents a calm, honest control room — usage, skills, eye-care settings and printables — computed entirely on-device. There is nothing to subscribe to and nothing leaves the phone.
The parent gate
Everything adult lives behind a gate: solve a simple addition question (e.g. “What is 5 + 7?”) or long-press the unlock line for two seconds. Children who wander into Parents see the gate, not the dashboard.
Today at a glance
The dashboard opens with a plain-language summary: minutes used today against the cap, how many eye breaks were taken, which worlds were touched, and whether the daily cap was reached. A weekly bar chart shows minutes per weekday, capped visually at 20 minutes per day.
Skill map as leaves, not scores
Six skill areas — literacy, numeracy, shapes, memory, logic and patterns — grow as leaves on a tree. Parents can see which areas are strong and which need practice; children only ever see stickers and stars.
Profiles and siblings
Create several explorer profiles on one device, each with its own avatar, age tier (3–4, 4–5, 5–6), navigation preference (icon-only, voice-guided or combined), daily cap and eye-filter state. Progress never mixes between siblings.
Daily challenges and the weekly plan
One offline challenge unlocks each day (14 in the pack) — “Find 3 circles at home”, “Say please and thank you three times” — and a structured 10-day weekly plan mixes literacy, numeracy, nature, life and creative focus days, each linked to printable worksheets and a plain-language parent tip.
Printables centre
Generate A4 PDFs on-device: 24 templates plus “print this week’s lessons” packs, exported as LittleLearn-Weekly-YYYY-MM-DD.pdf. Perfect for the daily cap: when screen time ends, paper play begins.
Privacy you can verify
Profiles, mastery, stickers and session logs live in local storage on the device (key littlelearn_v1). Cloud backup exists but is off by default and last-write-wins when enabled. No ads, no analytics SDKs, no child accounts — the MIT-licensed source is public at github.com/goshbuzz/Little-Learn.
Parent questions, answered
How do I open the Parent Dashboard?
Tap the Parents button (👨👩👧) in the bottom navigation (or “Parents” in the website header) and pass the parent gate: answer the addition question, or press and hold the long-press line for two seconds.
Can I change the daily screen-time cap?
Yes — in Parent Mode under Eye Protection & Time, choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes per child profile. The header countdown updates immediately, and the cap screen offers printable worksheets when the time is up.
How do I see what my child practised this week?
The weekly chart in the dashboard shows minutes per day, and the skill-map leaves show which of the six areas grew. For a paper record, use the Printables Centre to export the week’s activities as a single A4 PDF pack.
Does LittleLearn work for more than one child?
Yes. Sibling mode lets you create multiple explorer profiles on the same device; each keeps its own progress, stickers, cap and eye settings. Switch profiles from the profile picker at launch.
